Salted Caramel Pretzel Bites

Big Larry Labour Day is what they’re calling me now, after that final long weekend of the summer. What an awesome three days it was …feels like it was an entire week!

With it being the last long weekend of the summer, and essentially the last party weekend for a lot of my friends (I gotta stop hanging out with teachers), I wanted to try something new and see where the buzz took me.

I started the weekend with edibles …lots of edibles. I didn’t necessarily eat lots of them, but I wanted to be prepared, just in case. I don’t mess with edibles too often, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I wanted to ensure that I had too many rather than not enough …I definitely had enough.

Big Larry has a big tolerance but I must say that these edibles hit me fairly quick and I was feeling pretty good for several hours. I had been craving the Salted Caramel Pretzel Bites from Bogart’s Kitchen for quite some time now so I knew I had to get them. I also didn’t want to mix the pretzels with any gummies, like some of you weirdos like to do, so I went with 6 bags of them, figuring that should do me. In hindsight, I guess I could’ve bought some chocolate bars too; they would’ve went just fine with these pretzels …but what’s done is done and no regrets.

No complaints about the pretzels either, except for the fact that they tasted too damn good and because of that, I wanted to eat them all at once. I was being taunted like those old chip commercials, “bet you can’t eat just one” …my willpower was being tested to the max.

The pretzels are a sandwich of sorts, featuring two pretzels stuck together by a nice caramel filling. There are two ‘sandwiches’ per package, each one containing 5mg of THC. I started with two packages, kicking the long weekend off with a nice 20mg hit of THC. I wasn’t clock watching per say but I knew around what time I ate them and based off that I would guess it took about 20-25 minutes to start feeling something (but I honestly don’t know exactly how long it took).

Once I started feeling that initial buzz, it didn’t take long for it to creep its way into full effect. The high is tough to explain; I had smoked a joint about an hour prior and the pretzel high felt like the high from the joint was lasting for hours, if that makes any sense to you. Normally, a joint of that same strain would only last about an hour so this extended feeling high was a nice treat for me.

An hour in, I felt great, exactly where I wanted to be, so I didn’t even bother eating anymore and I gave the rest away to some friends; they also really enjoyed the taste and the high …and these are dudes that I’ve been smoking primo stuff with since as long I can remember. My point being, high tolerance with dried flower or not, these pretzels slapped!

The high was fantastic but it was the taste that did it for me. I honestly wish they made them without cannabis, or just with CBD, so that I could eat a lot more of them at once. They’re so good. I usually grab from the Peace Pipe in Peterborough but since I’m on the road this week, I’m going to stop off at either their downtown Oshawa location or at the one they just opened near Cobourg Beach.

I would love to keep writing but I am craving these pretzels once again so I must get going to the Peace Pipe; I can’t wait to get these Salted Caramel Pretzels into me …I might even pick up an infused bath bomb while I’m there, so stay tuned for that.
